"When in prayer, the Christian should remember what Roman's 8:27 says about the Holy Spirit, (And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.) The Holy Spirit is an ever present help in time of prayer. He searches our hearts, and knows our needs and troubles even better than we do ourselves. Remember, you are never alone when you pray. The Holy Spirit is within you, and will intercede for you according to the will of God.”
~ Tracy Anderson
Pastor Gary will start a new sermon series this Sunday entitled, "Seek First The Kingdom of God". He will refer to Matthew 6: 25-34 to teach us that we, as Christians or “little Christs," will live free from worry as we look to the kingdom of God before anything else and above all else.
• Praise God for the cooler, less humid days and the GORGEOUS, artistic foliage He always brings at this time of year.
• Praise Him for days when your body and mind are doing well, and when your health is good. Ask for His help and healing when you're struggling physically, emotionally, and/or mentally. Thank Jesus that you/we all can lean into Him.
• Ask God for wisdom about how you can help a lonely person. For instance, people in care centers love mail or visits, as many people that live there don't get any of either.
• Thank God that the Holy Spirit lives in us, touching us all the time. We are the temple of God, His home! Also, that when we don't know what to say, are tired, frustrated, lonely, or are distracted from God, the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf.
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.”
~ Romans 8:26-27

What factors help sexual and gender minority Christians to persist (and grow!) in their faith? What about when these Christians feel called into vocational ministry? How do they stay strong, both in faith and in ministry, despite a host of challenges?
The Center for Faith, Sexuality, and Gender is offering a webinar on Thursday, September 18, from 7:30-9 p.m. The webinar will be led by Taka Chan, who recently interviewed twenty sexual and gender minority Christians with 10+ years of experience working for Christian organizations. Drawing from his research, he'll help us understand what personal, community, and organizational dynamics have helped his interviewees persevere in their ministry work. We’ll then discuss the factors that help any LGBTQ/SSA Christian remain steadfast in their faith.
If you can’t join the webinar live, feel free to catch the recording for the following week. You can learn more about the webinar and register at the link below.
